KWAYORG REPORTS OF THE KWARA SOUTH TOUR, "WHAT WE LEARNT AND PROBABLE SOLUTIONS TO IT"

A REPORTS OF THE KWARA SOUTH TOUR, SPONSORED BY SEN. LOLA ASHIRU By Kwara South Youth Development Organization (KWAYORG)

The bus left the Maigida Soludero park at exactly 8:55 a.m as against the 7:45 a.m schedule.

There was a little stopover at Challenge bus stop to pick some members of the organizing committee. Then we moved....

The journey went on smoothly for another hour until we had to stop at Ajase Ipo to pick some stuffs.


We got to Esie Museum at exactly 10:30 a.m.

Esie Museum is located in Esie, in Igbomina land, by virtue of location, Irepodun LGA in the Southern part of Kwara State, Nigeria.

Mrs. Mopelola Omowunmi from the Museum did the introductions, the do's and dont's of the Museum and told us specifically how Esie Museum is the first in the whole of Nigeria and has the Third largest Sculpture in Nigeria.


Everyone on the trip were divided into Three(3) groups for  easy access in and out of the Gallery.

We were warned not to take pictures in the gallery, and this brought about some speculations on whether they(Esie Museum) do not have Social media pages. If they do, do they not post pictures of some things in the gallery?


A lot of things have been learnt from our visit to the Museum.

Lots of problems and probable solutions have been observed and discovered too.


We were shown around the gallery; saw soapstone sculptures that were believed to be human remains before archaeologists proved them wrong and said they were carved, but up till date,  no one knows the Sculptor.


We got to see other parts of the Museum and at exactly 11:52 am, we proceeded from Esie Museum to Owu fall.

Owu fall is located in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara South.

We didn't just journey through, but we also took into consideration accessing the infrastructural decay most especially road networks while touring all along.

The Road networks in most Ifelodun LGA towns we passed through, especially roads leading to Esie Museum itself and the road leading to OWU-FALL are nothing  to write home about.

How then do we and other prospective tourists, both local, National or International explore, if the road Network leading to our tourist areas are seriously in a comatose? 

How would investors come to invest? 

How would people be happy to go all through the stress of bad roads just for sight seeing?

We think on this note, it is inevitable to call on our Government, both Lawmakers, Federal Ministries and the State Government, to find a probable solution to this infrastructural deficit.

Our Resources are lying untapped and dying silently in the far bushes! Not because they cannot be put to full use, but because of inefficiency in it's management and less attention from the end of our Government.

And the tour continued....


We got bagpacks with water bottles from Ankara tour.

Owu fall is located in Owu-Isin, Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State, Nigeria, as rightly said earlier, but for emphasis.


It felt like the bus was going to fall on its side as we journey through the bad roads of Isin Local Government.

We got to Owa-onire at 1:05 pm and refreshments were served at 1:07pm.

We were advised to eat before we proceeded with the journey.

At first, we hoped the bus would be able to get to some point before we continue with a less-than 7km walk, but unfortunately there was a river that shattered the hope of having a lesser walk.

The walk began at exactly 1:56pm and after walking 7kilometres for 1hour, 30minutes.

We arrived the Magnificent and Magical Owu fall...a  spectacular view that takes away the sorrow of having to walk such a long distance.

The interested ones couldn't resist the temptation of entering the water, so we had fun playing in the water and after about 30 minutes, we had no option than to leave as we still had to journey back 7km to where our buses were parked.

Majority were immediately convinced Owu fall is such an amazing place for tourists, but to visit again, some of us made up our minds on our way back to do our best to convince our Government to do all that is necessary to fix the infrastructure so as to promote Kwara South to the world and make our tourist centres a floodgate for tourists to behold the natural ambiance.

We retorted, visiting the place again, would be when an alternative to the 14km to and fro walk is put in place.

At 6:02pm, most people were back to their buses and at exactly 6:20pm, the journey back to Ilorin, Ajasse and Offa began.

The journey, though smoothly, did not go quietly as our ever energized youth did not leave out arguments on this and that, but I must say that in one way or the other, we had fun and got to meet new people....

The bus arrived at the Maigida Soludero park, Ilorin, at exactly 8:48pm.

Most of us were too tired to bid each other farewell to our various destinations.

Alas! An unforgettable experience.
