ENetSuD: FOLLOWING PETITION; CONTRACTOR, MINISTRY PLEAD TO RETURN TO SITE AFTER EFCC GRILLING

ENetSuD: FOLLOWING PETITION;  CONTRACTOR, MINISTRY PLEAD TO RETURN TO SITE AFTER EFCC GRILLING

The Contractor (BUAN Projects limited) and the Ministry (Federal Ministry of Environment) that executed the drainage and erosion control project at Ita Elepa in Oja Gboro, Ilorin East LGA, have pleaded to return to site and complete the project based on the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) after serious grilling and detention by Ilorin Zonal Office of EFCC.

This development followed ENetSuD's petition dated 3rd September, 2019 against the duo of the Contractor and the Ministry to EFCC over inflation of contract sum, non-execution of the project in compliance with the BEME and overpayment of the contractor relative to the work done on site.

The EFCC consequently summoned and detained the Resident Engineer of the Ministry and the Contractor that executed the project, which was a 2017 Constituency project facilitated by Sen. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

In ENetSuD's petition, it was reported that the worth of Bill 3 (concrete work) is ₦18,312,416 instead of ₦61,896,640 stated by the Ministry. ENetSuD told EFCC that how the contractor was certified for payment of ₦85,766,298
despite the non-commensurate work on the site is not understood and needs further investigation.

ENetSuD prayed to EFCC to investigate the non-execution of the project in compliance with the BEME, overpayment of the
contractor by the Ministry relative to work done, and the resulting inflation of contract sum; prosecute the offenders based on its investigation; return the contractor to site to utilize all the money received for commensurate project
execution; and do such other things it considers necessary to ensure that Kwara money works for Kwarans.
