Is Ashaolu, PDP Here To Beg Kwarans or Justify Legacy of Sleaze?

AbdulFatah AbdulRahman

Like you, I read the insipid piece written by our brother, Tunde Ashaolu, on Monday and I was disappointed. I had expected to see a politically luminous writeup considering the months it took him and PDP to overcome the shock of their defeats in the 2019 elections. To have come out of inertia to weave lies and disparage government in the eyes of the public is, to say the least, Kwara PDP and Ashaolu are like the proverbial leopards who can never change their dark spots.

The effort was to present Governor AbdulRazaq as a vengeful, vindictive leader against the Saraki family. But Ashaolu's attempt to exhume the dead stories would only give him reddened eyes. Senator Gbemisola Saraki lives today as a Minister of State Transportation with no blemishes. If there is another of the respected late Dr. Olusola Saraki's children becoming fugitive of law at home and abroad, Ashaolu and his people would do well to admonish him to mind his ways.

It is now obvious the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State has no understanding of their travails and lack the footing to overcome them like they want the public to believe. Their chief strategy is putting down the present administration by whatever means; fair, unfair, godly or ungodly. This is why six months into the glorious tenure, they have started kicking like lovelorn young men because Kwarans' courtship with AbdulRazaq has been exciting, productive and fruitful.

It is at this point we should take note of PDP's true motives:  loud fake cry for attention-- their stock- in-trade to hoodwink the masses.

The recent efforts by the EFCC to take back some of the funds stolen by past leaders unsettle them a great deal. Mr. Ashaolu also alluded to the celebrated legislative intervention of the 9th Assembly in investigating the allocation of choice properties by past leaders to their cronies. They are rattled and befuddled Kwarans get informed daily of their instituted empire of sleaze and avarice. There is no doubt the state's progress and freedom unnerves the men of yesterday whose reign hitherto enslaved it.This and nothing else inspired the rotten pen of Ashaolu into life to make loud, shrill scream of frustration to the ears of the public. But do PDP not know of a saying, 'no sleep for the wicked' ?

I think it would have been better if they came out to beg. The Ashaolu I knew is capable enough to pen an emotional apology letter to the public. Maybe it would have saved them the disgrace their resort to lies and falsehood accord them in the views of discerning electorates. The silly attempts to portray Governor AbdulRazaq as a vindictive man after their Leader, Senator Saraki and his men, and not in actual sense the guard against the looters of our commonwealth is an exercise in futility. No matter the efforts of Kwara PDP or anyone, the corrupt men of yesterday should be made to face the music squarely.

By now I expect the EFCC to go for Mr. Ashaolu, too. I really don't know the exact legal terms but I can sense the illegality in portraying the agency as an attack dog of the government as gross misrepresentation. If you ask me, that is a demonstration of lack of respect for institutions that killed the shine of our dear state under PDP. Perhaps Ashaolu also confirmed to us that leadership under their watch superintended harassment and molestation of innocent opposition elements! Ha, what a stylish man! Nonetheless, the change Kwara voted has come. This government would never do what Kwarans would blame them for. Therefore,  PDP should rejoice!

In his attempt to give the government a bad name and hang them, Mr. Ashaolu also wantonly allegged them of sponsorship of Kwara Must Change. In desperation, he asserted they were sent to paint them black. Excuse me, what more is left of Ashaolu's PDP respect in the public? Anyways if some history could do, I direct them to look into the genesis of KMC. They are neither an arm or agency in the government, this Ashaolu should know. They have been around for a while as a pro-democracy group. If their intermittent revealing press statements irk PDP that much, they are advised to settle with them. It is disinteresting to read the almighty PDP making a group's activities the yardstick to measure the government probity.

I see nothing to worry about for Kwara PDP if really they have no skeletons in their closets. If I were them I would join our leader, Sen. Saraki in staying calm and unperturbed. Kwara Aviation College, Ilorin Cargo Terminal project are only due for investigation like Ile- Arugbo and others before and nothing more. If the accused are clean like they posited nothing would happen to them. But this false alarm by Ashaolu before the commencement of investigation already sold them off as guilt- struck people. How a mere article could disorganised them is mysterious.

And now that they came out to kickstart the dirty act of blackmail in order to avert justice, the general public should ask them to compile a list of those they felt were unjustly treated by this government. A bit of some education would also do that EFCC and other law enforcement agencies are no arms of Kwara state government. Therefore, they had better stop grandstanding if they don't want the wrath of God.
I see us doing well in praying for Mr. Ashaolu and PDP for strength to bear the consequences of their sordid past. For its karma fighting them and not any AbdulRazaq.

Here's my own penance: Yah Rahman, Igfiriliy PDP 2,019!
