Kwara pensioners demand probe of Saraki, Ahmed over N1.6bn Arugbo's money



In the early hour of today, Kwara pensioners addressed some members of the press in a press conference at the NUP Secretariat, 11, Commissioner's Lodge Way, Behind Civil Service Clinic, Ilorin Kwara.

The press conference addressed by the 9,030 accredited pensioners of Kwara state which called for the probe of two former governors of Kwara state, Sen. Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatai Ahmad on N1.6bn 'Owo Arugbo' owed by the Bukola Saraki Administration (2003-2011)




It was recalled that Bukola Saraki as the executive governor of Kwara State in 2008 agreed to clear the outstanding pension arrears and gratuities of the 9,030 accredited pensioners in which the then government approached some banks for a loan of N3.3bn. Following the loan collection the government failed to pay the total sum owed but only pay 50%.

Following the press conference the pensioners move to the street for a peaceful demonstration to appeal to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to bail out the real 'Arugbos' by retrieving the withheld pension money from the former governors of Kwara State, Sen. Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed.
