Healthcare Magazine’s 34th Anniversary Conference And Award Gathers Momentum As Health Minister Confirms Attendance

The Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, has confirmed that he would be attending Healthcare magazine’s 34th anniversary conference and awards ceremony holding in March at Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos.

In a statement issued by the publisher of the magazine and the convener of the conference and awards, Dr. Bola Olaosebikan in Lagos on Monday disclosed that the minister would chair the conference and also present the keynote address.

He emphasized that the decision to settle for Ehanire was based on his reputation as a highly respected healthcare professional and an intellectual powerhouse in the Nigerian health sector who would undoubtedly educate the audience on the theme which was deliberately chosen to highlight innovations, technology and sustainable financing in the all important sector.

Olaosebikan had, in an earlier release, said, "the essence of this anniversary conference and award is to promote excellence and innovations and also address the issue of medical tourism and better funding of Healthcare, promote investment in the sector and to improve the conditions of healthcare workforce across Nigeria, in addition to updating ourselves on developments across the globe on the subject matter of our concern at the conference”

It would be recalled that HEALTHCARE magazine debuted in 1986 with the sole mission of giving comprehensive media coverage to issues, developments, innovations, policies, challenges, peoples and events in Nigeria’s health sector; while expanding the frontiers of knowledge and setting agenda in this all important sector and sphere of our national life.

From then till now, the magazine has served as witness to the fortunes of players and gladiators in the industry and positioned itself as a valuable source of intelligence on the evolution, growth and development of the industry in Nigeria. Indeed, all through this period, we have remained unequivocally an agenda setting medium for all those involved in the business of health management and management of health business in Nigeria.

And, as part of activities marking its 34th Anniversary, the organization is organizing a special two-in-one high profile event on Monday, March 9, 2020 with a conference having as its theme: “IMPROVING HEALTH IN NIGERIA THROUGH INNOVATION IN TECHNOLOGIES AND SUSTAINABLE FINANCING" taking place in the morning and dovetailing into an awards ceremony at the same venue.
 He, however, explained that the conference would afford the medical practitioners the opportunity also to brainstorm in order to find a lasting solution to the outbreak of Lassa Fever, Ebola Virus and Coronavirus scourge.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, Kano State Governor, Abdulahi Ganduje, Kwara State Governor ,Abdulrazaq AbdulRahman Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalung and Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum are expected as Special Guests of Honour and to also speak on their state blueprint for Health sector.

Prof Akin Abayomi,  Lagos State Commissioner for Health will also be speaking at the high level conference.

Dr. Adeyemi Johnson, will also present a special paper at the conference.

 Healthcare Excellence Award (Healthcare Excel 2020)  would present outstanding achievers awards to deserving Governors, Medical Organizations, Policy Makers, Brands, National and International Innovators and Role models from Nigeria and African Countries.
The conference is being put together by seasoned medical professionals to address the issue of health financing and universal health coverage in the 21st century, according to the World Health Organisation standard.
