COVID-19: Oloriegbe Calls For Calm, Prayers & Strict Adherence To Preventive Measures against the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Chairman Senate Committee on health and the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has advised Nigerians particularly the people of his senatorial district to be calm, prayerful and adhere strictly to the preventive measures as the world continues to wage war against Coronavirus pandemic.

Oloriegbe who as the Chairman Senate Health Committee is providing technical and legislative support to the Federal Ministry of Health, NCDC and the Presidential Task Force on combating the COVID-19  Pandemics noted that the Federal Government in collaboration with state governments,  international development partners and other stakeholders are leaving no stone unturned to protect the lives of Nigerians and minimize the effects of the pandemic in the country.
The medical doctor turned politician is also supporting the Kwara state government efforts at combating the pandemic in Kwara state as a member of the Taskforce set up by the Governor.

The statement released to the press also announced that; his constituency office will be closed down on Friday in compliance with the stay at home order of the state government.

The message reads: "My dear constituents of Kwara Central, it is no more news that the deadly virus, Covid-19 is fast spreading the world over and, Nigeria is not left out. In fact, we have recorded cases already in some states with proximity to Kwara State.
"In light of this, despite that, we are yet to report a case, we need to practice all preventive measures religiously as stated and enjoined by the NCDC and other health-related stakeholders the world over. I want to assure you all that the Federal Government is doing the needful to curtail the spread of this scourge. Our health practitioners are on their toes and, adequately given medical attention to the victims and running necessary tests on all suspected patients. Let's endeavour to cooperate and pray for their safety too as they bend over backwards in making a priority, our health concerns. I want to enjoin us to aid the efforts of the Government at all levels by refraining from sharing uncorroborated news that may incite panic.

"My dear constituents, as events unfold, I enjoin you all, to cooperate with the State government in our quests to surmount this health challenge. Let us continue to wash our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds periodically;  avoid large gatherings, use nose masks, whilst also maintaining reasonable distance while having contact with one another. Staying at home in the interim is of utmost importance.
 If you have had contact or know of anyone who has had close contact with an infected person, or you feel the symptoms or know of anyone having the symptoms of the virus, kindly help to take the necessary actions by submitting useful information to the right authorities.

"As part of our responsiveness efforts and in compliance with the stay at home order of the State government, my constituency office will be locked down on Friday till the further notice. This is a reality we are faced with whilst being deeply steadfast in the faith, abide by all rules as they are aimed at securing our lives and those of our friends and families. We shall come out of this stronger."
