 9japarrot Team gathered that; the Governor of Kwara State has finally approved the immediate rehabilitation of Egwa bridge in Lafiagi, that has been left un attended to for so many years. Mr Olayinka Solace, who is the SA New Media to The Governor made this known to the our Team yesterday 8th of April 2020, where He stated via his official press release that;

The Kwara Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Rotimi Iliasu earlier today paid a working visit to the popular Egwa bridge in Lafiagi, the HQ of Edu LGA to ascertain the extent of damage done to the over two decades (20yrs) old bridge by overflowing of the river which in recent years has raised concerns among the people of the town.

He futherly said; For the record, Egwa bridge is an important bridge connecting Lafiagi to the ferry port at Chewuru, completed and commissioned in 2001 during the tenure of the late former governor, Muhammed Lawal

The bridge has since not received any government maintenance or rehabilitation.

The deplorable state of the bridge if left unattended will continue to have grave economic consequences on the local population whose survival depends largely on the functionality of the bridge as food items and other farm produce are ferried across the river all year round.
