It was a sad day in the Agric of Ilorin earlier this Evening Today 31st of May 2020 as fire outbreak reportedly caused by an electrical power surge claims millions of properties inside a four bedroom flat. Although, no life was lost but the incidents was a very terrible one.
The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Mr Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, confirmed that the incident happened at No 14 Mojo Street, Agric Area.
He said, “The Kwara State Fire Service attended to a scene of fire On Sunday 31st May, 2020 at about 12:12 am at No 14 Mojo Street, behind Habeeb Filling Station, off Panat Feeds, Agric Area, Ilorin.
“The Brigade was summoned to this distress call in which the Brigade responded immediately. It was a building of about 4 bedroom flat, the building has been engulfed before the arrival of the Fire Service in spite of that, the inferno was put under control as soon as the Brigade arrived at the scene and stopped the spread of fire to the buildings surrounding the affected building and later put off within short period.
“During the course of the investigation, the Firemen suspected the out break to be caused by electric spark from one of the sockets which ignited a combustible material nearby and set the building ablaze.
He however urged Kwarans to always call the Fire Service Department on 08030419316 as soon as possible in case of any emergency.
