CHANCELLOR DRUMS SUPPORT FOR KWASU

Newly appointed Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Dr. Johnson Adewumi  at the weekend pledged to work harmoniously with the leadership of the university. 
Adewumi, who hosted a KWASU delegation, led by the equally new Vice Chancellor, professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi at his Thomas Adewumi International School, Oko, also solicited support for the university. 
He spoke about his expectations from the staff and students,  his vision for the university and his determination to contribute towards improving the  development and prestige  of the university. 
The Chancellor told the delegation that he would not be intrusive in the running of the university, stressing however that collaboration will be promoted. 

Said he: "You are going to run KWASU by yoursef. I'm never going to ask you to do anything wrong. I'm never going to ask you to do anything for me. Every one in kwasu has become my relative. Let us work together. Let us give this man ( the new Vice Chancellor) and the  frontline people our support

Adewumi canvassed support of the university community for their Chief Executive, adding that " this is his time. Whoever opposes change cannot make progress

A successful entrepreneur himself, the Chancellor said he would bring his weath of experience and his influence to advance the good causes of KWASU. He counselled against indolence and unproductive activities. 

"We must all work together. There will be consultation. But I don't work with lazy People. I want us to make kwasu the best state university in the country. Let us work together and lift KWASU higher, " he said.

Leader of the delegation , Prof. Akanbi praised Dr. Adewumi for his simplicity, humility and communal spirit. 
Although  University Chancellors are  deemed to be ceremonial, Akanbi said KWASU desires a more robust and productive  relationship with the new Chancellor. 
" Your role is not ceremonial" the VC said adding that KWASU would be in partnership with TAICO whose impressive academic records are globally- recognised. 
Echoing the challenge of the Chancellor to the KWASU staff, Prof. Akanbi said workers must brace up for more productivity. 
" The reward for hardwork is more work" he enthused. 

A guest and former Commissioner for Education in Kwara State, Oloriewe Raheem Adedoyin, praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the quality of his key appointments in KWASU.
He commended  Vice Chancellor for the positive change he has made since his assumption of office two months ago. These positive actions, he said, include the  conversion of KWASU Colleges to Faculties and the appointment of new Deans without recourse to ethnicity or religion.
Hist royal father, HRM Oba Victor Olawuyi, the Oloko of Oko Ireseland prayed for the success of the new KWASU team. 
The KWASU Delegation includef the Deputy Vice Chancellors, Prof. Omololu Fafojuwo ( Administration) and Prof. Lukman Jimoh ( Academics), the Registrar, Mallam Mohammed Ajibola Shuaib, the Bursar, Mallam Muhammed Abubakar, the Library Coordinator, Mrs Florence Ajani, the Director of the Institute of Professional Studies, the Head of Department, Business and Entrepreneurship, Dr  Rahman Mustapha, the Director of Information, Mallam AbdulRazaq Sanni and other top officials  of the university.
