First Anniversary of Sen ASHIRU: Our Gains and Prospect

By: Omuiyadun H.D (MRM)

"Every action is embedded with a purpose, every purpose is inbuilt with expectation while every expectation is subject to evaluation to determine it pros and cons."

OUR GAINS

Our basic gain as good people of Kwara South can not be unconnected to the fact that our representative is not a bootlicker but an independent mind who can easily ventilate the yearnings and aspiration of his constituents without any fear or intimidation. However, having an independent mind is never enough if not translated into meaningful development.

Without razzmatazzing, let me quickly take you through some of the indelible impact of Sen ASHIRU in just a year in office.

Pragmatic Legislative Assignments

Its not arguable that many of our legislators in the past are incapacitated to make an impactful motions and bills independently expect they are permitted to do so by the demi god but Sen ASHIRU has changed the narrative by moving a motion for CBN to readdress the activities of micro credit organizations like Groomings, Seap, Lapo etc to cut down their interest rate so as to enable micro business and petty traders to access loan without robbing peter to pay paul: this singular motion will not only be beneficial to the good people of Kwara South but the nation at large. In the same vein, Sen ASHIRU judiciously prepared a bill for the establishment of University of History and Archeology to be sited at the historic Esie Museum in Irepodun Local Government. If this bill scale through third reading and Presidential assent, it will not only add value to our senatorial district but equally boost the economy activities of the constituency. Sen ASHIRU has been proactive in the 9th senate through sagacious legislative oversite functions, co-sponsored of motions among others.

Women empowerment and Community intervention

As a philanthropist and masses oriented senator, Sen ASHIRU has contributed immensely to community development and humanitarian services ranging from building and furnishings of home for a childless widower, grant and soft loan to about 2000 women across the senatorial district, cash support for religious and civil organizations.

Youth and Educational development

Sen ASHIRU has deemed it fit not to follow the traditional method of hand-to-mouth empowerment but instead initiated a robust human capital development. Also before the COVID-19 pandemic, the senator has concluded plan to inaugurate Kwara South Scholarship board to cater for the payment of school fees for the less privilege and exemplary student while about 100 constituents and some law students in the constituency had already benefited. Sen ASHIRU also facilitated employment opportunities at various MDA including Federal Polytechnic Offa.

Elders welfare

Having understood the vulnerability of senior fellow in the constituency, Sen ASHIRU was magnanimous in the establishment of Elders welfare scheme to cater for the health challenges of our aged fathers and mothers through designation of a special hospital (Gentleman Abdulsalam) to take good care of our elders. As of today, more than 500 elders have benefited from this scheme while efforts is in the pipeline to institutionalize the scheme through the NHIS enrollment.

Political Party Intervention

As a loyal party man, Sen ASHIRU is not only committed to the manifestoes of  his party but equally resolute in the maintainance of peace and unity of  his political party. This can be exonerated through  his various hand stretching to the party without any aiota of favoritism and discrimination.

OUR PROSPECT

The coming years promised to be fantastic in terms of physical projects which has already been captured in the 2020 budget ranging from roads and drainage construction, cottage hospitals, provision of motorized boreholes, solar street lights, youth and women empowerment among others. Another good news is the Ecological Intervention, that is still in the offing, when  approved, there will be opening up of roads leading to our prestigious OWU water falls, in Ifelodun Local Government.

Conclusively, it is celestial to note that Sen ASHIRU had never and shall never deviates from the core value of serving GOD through selfless, purposeful and resourceful representation.

Good people of Kwara South had sown the seed and it is undoubtedly that we shall reap bountifully.
