Yesterday 9th June 2020, Mrs Joana Nnazua Kolo Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Kwara State was at the Press Conference organised by Women Rights Organizations on a discourse to forge a path towards the improvement of structures that will protect and advance the rights of women and girls in Kwara State and Nigeria at large, held at NUJ Conference Hall, Ilorin.
The conference was themed: Call to action to Kwara State Government in ending violence against women and girls in the State.
Where she emphasized on the painful scenarios of recently raped young girls who not only being the victims but they were killed at the locales.
The Commissioner submitted that the government and the stakeholders would be fully proactive in making sure the perpetrators faced the severe punishment and strategies are in the pipeline to domesticate the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) act in Kwara State.
Mrs Joana also noted that, it is high time our traditional institution, religious leaders and security agencies with concern stakeholders raised their voices against the scourge taking the pride of our women and girls in the state and the nation at large.

It is pertinent to appreciate the partnering Organizations; Olive Community Development Initiative, International Women Communication and Global Hope For Women and Children for their wonderful steps taken to eradicate Sexual and Gender Based Violence cases, she concludes.
