LG Autonomy: Stakeholders Commend Governor AbdulRasaq.




Rising from the monthly allocation distribution committee meeting, Local Government administrators in Kwara State have applauded the State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for strengthening the autonomy of the third Tier of Government.

The Administrators comprising all the Director Personnel Management, Local Government Treasurers and all the relevant Stakeholders in the Local Government administration lend credence to the applicability of the 2019 Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit guidelines since assumption of office in May 2019.

Chairman of the DPMs Forum, Alhaji Abdulkareem Magaji  who doubles as DPM of Ilorin South Local Government Council disclosed this on Thursday, 25th June 2020 after the allocation distribution meeting.

He acknowledged the support of the State Government aimed at fostering Local Government  independence and non interference in the management and distribution of Local Government resources.

He commended the supervisory role of the  Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for the ongoing reform in the Local Government Councils which have ensured the autonomy of the third tier of government in the state so as to achieve the purpose for which the Local Government are meant to serve at the grassroots level.

He particularly appreciates the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Umar Danladi Shero, a seasoned Local Government Administrator for his contributions towards instilling discipline among the Local Government staff.

He further appreciated the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for prompt delivery of Local Government funds from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

Breakdown of the distribution for the month of June 2020, shows the Statutory Revenue Allocation received for the 16 Local Government area as one billion, five hundred and four million, four hundred and eighty nine thousand, one hundred and one naira, and fifty six kobo (1,504,489,101.56)

Value Added Tax for the month is five hundred and thirty million, thirty eight thousand, nine hundred and thirteen naira, fifty three kobo (530,038,913.53) while the 10% State IGR is at eighty two million, eight hundred and six thousand, eight hundred and eighty one thousand, thirty kobo (82,806,881.30) making a total of two billion, one hundred and seventeen million, three hundred and thirty four thousand, eight hundred and ninety six naira, thirty nine kobo (2,117,334,896.39)
