OCP Africa, a leading company in the global production and exportation of phosphate-based fertilizer in partnership with kwara govt has distributed NPK fertilizer to about 3000 smaller holder farmers in Edu Local Government Area of the state to boost rice production.
The partnership and distribution by OCP Africa falls under the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI) of the Federal Government of Nigeria which is also working with blending plants under the Fertilizer Producers and Suppliers of Nigeria (FEPSAN) to contribute to PFI objectives of providing access to locally produced NPK fertilizers for small holders.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alh. Aminu Adisa Logun attended the flag off ceremony and reiterated the state government's aim which he said is targeted at subsidising fertilizers in order to enable the state regain its lost glory in rice production and attain food security. He appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fertilizers as he assured the farmers of more intervention programs next farming season.
