BBN NAIJA: A CELEBRATION OF RASCALITY - By Dauda Haruna Tula

Big brother show is a reality Television show that has its origin from Netherlands that was created by a man called John De Mol,in 1997 based on a novel by George Orwell titled Nineteen Eighty four. It was first aired in Netherland in 1999.

Big brother is a show that feature housemates ranging from 12 to 21 to contest for a cash prize and other goodies, people from different works of life are brought together with different ideologies and different gender to be in a house for about two months,in which they are under certain rules and contestants are evicted until the final winner emerge.

Big Brother Naija, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria started as far back as 2006,it was aired in DSTV channel 37,it lasted from 5th march to 4th June 2006.were contestant will compete for a huge sum of 60,000,000 million naira,my showcasing and behaving in the most obscene ways, winners are decided by SMS at the rate of #30 per SMS.

I was flabbergasted to see how the Nigerian authorities keep mute,to have allowed such disaster to take place in the country, a country that has the African culture and precisely the most religious country ( both Islam and Christianity) in Africa to have allowed so show of nydity to the aired in its screens even carrying the name Nigeria in it.

Big brother Nigeria has taken away the creativeness in our youths, they have now decided to celebrate nudity instead of knowledge, and hard working and religious people that we were, the last seasoned that took place almost the same time as the presidential elections, there was general voters apathy in that election, but surprisingly, almost 80million Nigerians voted in the BBnaija.

The western world have been raging war against Africa for long that now they no longer need weapons and guns to do that, all they need is to distract its youth from doing the right thing, which is exactly what BBNaija is out there to do,youths become lazier, insolent, disrespectful and of course seeing the nakedness of men and women that used to be a sacred aspect of our culture and religion is now seen as fashion.

No wonder the late Dan masnin Kano of the blessed memory said and I quote "Today we are no longer what we were, respect for elders and constituted authority that used to be a cardinal principle of our society is now at its lowest ebb" nothing could be further from the truth,we are a generation of misplaced priority, where what isn't important is regarded as Paramount.

Not until we retrace our steps and set things in this our dear country, the future is bleak, the current set of leaders we have now, have enjoyed mentorship from our founding fathers the likes of Ahmadu Bello,Tafawa Balewa and Nnamdi Azikwe, and  yet we suffer such bad leadership, what then will happen to the leaders of tomorrow that are not even ready to take up responsibilities, Nigeria youth must wake up to the task at hand
