•says loans for private school owners is not sustainable, urges state government to provide soft loans to private school teachers

•calls on school owners to make provision for identity cards for their staffs, urges private school teachers to look towards private tutorials and home lessons

•beneficiaries appreciates NYC, calls on the privileged in the society to assist the vulnerable

The Nigerian Youth Congress - Kwara State branch on Monday, has provided cash support for private school teachers in the state, this was as it advised private school teachers in the state to look towards starting private tutorials and home lessons in order to meet ends meet, and not be redundant. Each of the beneficiaries were given a cash support of 5,000 naira each.

The Chairman of NYC in the state, Issa Mutolib Ayobami also called on the state government to provide soft loans for private school teachers in the state, just as it did for workers in the transport sector in the state, he added that the plans of the state government to provide loans for private school owners is not sustainable.

In his words: "NYC appreciates the government's promise of support to private school owners in the state, it is a laudable move, however, the giving of loans to school owners is not sustainable, taking into cognisance the present situation in the country.

"No one knows when schools will resume, it is therefore not logical for private school owners to take loans to pay its workforce for work not done, especially since parents can't be compelled to pay the fees of their wards, even those who takes it may likely divert it for personal use, hence, the aim which is to provide support for the teachers may be defeated."

"The government should rather grant soft loans to private school teachers, just like the one given to transport workers in the state", he concluded. The NYC state Chairman also called on private school owners to make provision for identity cards for their staffs, as some were disqualified due to the absence of any means of identification during the selection process.

Mallam Ajala Q. O who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated the Kwara state NYC and prayed for God to reward the organizers. He lauded the initiative and beckoned on the NYC to look into other challenges bewildering schools in the state. He called on NYC to organize a seminar to sensitize youths on rape and other social vices in the society. Lastly, he called on the privileged people in the society to assist the vulnerable and downtrodden.

Some of the schools whose teachers benefited are Balogun Model College, Lamp Bearers Islamic School, Socrates College, Heavenly Glory Nur. & Pry. School, Ruhullahi Kiddies Academy, Index Model College, Muslim Nur. & Pry. School, amongst other schools. In the same vein, the NYC state secretary, Saeed Tijjani appreciated the goodwill of Honourable Soliu Bamidele Aluko, the CEO of Kalia Footwear Production - Ibrahim Kale Jimoh, and Honourable Abdulmajeed Dolapo.

NYC is under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and has branches across the nation with a responsibility to drive youths capacity building and leadership reorientation.
