The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized fake, sub-standard and unregistered Hand sanitizers selling in Yobe markets.
According to a reports by Daily Independent, Lawan Musa Dadingelma, NAFDAC Yobe State Coordinator stated this during an interview in Damaturu on Wednesday.
Dadingelma said that the items were seized in order to safeguard public health.According to him, “our surveillance and vigilance operations have been helpful in the seizures made during market survey.
He said, “All the 250 Hand sanitizers of 100ml have no manufacturers product label, no address and no NAFDAC registration number”. The Coordinator noted that the seized consignments included dozens of Hand sanitizers.
The Coordinator explained that “NAFDAC is working relentlessly to ensure that the unscrupulous businessmen and women do not sell fake Covid19 personal protective equipment which will be injurious and unwholesome items to the citizens.
“The agency will continue its strict surveillance in all places and make it difficult for sellers of fake, sub-standard and unwholesome Covid19 preventive things.’’
He called on consumers to always check vital information on the product before purchasing any drug or other consumables to safeguard their health.
