The late Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, Commissioner for Health in Ondo State, believed to have died of COVID-19 on Thursday, has been buried in his country home, Ilara-Mokin, IfedoreLocal Government Area of the state. His body, brought into the town in the ambulance of the state Ministry of Health, was greeted with wailing and loud noise of dirge by the young and old.
Government representatives and lawmakers from the state House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun witnessed the interment of the late commissioner.
The burial was witnessed by a mammoth crowd without recourse to the precautionary measures handed down by medical experts for preventing spread of the virulent Coronavirus.
After the Islamic Janaza prayers, the body of the commissioner was lowered into the grave at 10:40am.
The Chief Imam of Akure, Sheikh AbdulHakeem Yayi Akorede, who officiated at the burial, described the late commissioner as a philanthropist worthy of emulation. He explained that by the death of the late medical consultant, so many people have literally died because he gave them free treatments from time to time.
