[Op-Ed]: CELEBRATING ONE OF NIGERIA’S LEADING WOMEN, WHO IS REDEFINING LEADERSHIP

Sa'adatu Modibbo-Kawu | Ilorin.Info | Ilorin, Kwara State.
 Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu

On the day Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu would resume office, her first after many had dreamt for long to have a glimpse of her leadership on the political stage, the biggest headline was not the ceremony. Instead, it was just a humble young woman ready to serve. with cool composure and a nice profile. Although she is yet to appear on the big political stage, she made sure her impact was felt immediately she resumed office.

She was presented to Kwarans at a point whereby all hope has been lost on how best to put an end to the maladies and problems ravaging tertiary institutions in the state, a dilapidated condition that has hindered the social, economic, political growth and development of Kwara state. As we all know to mention but a few, crumbling classrooms have both physical and psychological dangers for students and lecturers alike. Almost immediately she came on board her music of positive change was heard across tertiary institutions in the state, she sliced, work and diced her way through into the heart crumbling infrastructures, disappointed staffs, hopeless students, setting up a course and a path for every female politician to follow for an easy impact and voice out against laziness and lackadaisical attitude to work.

Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu’s uncommon wisdom, remarkable vision, and exemplary leadership and desire to push the message of H.E AbdulRahman Abdurazaq led government, forward into the heart of everyone that for “every problem in our tertiary institution there is a solution” was the reason her fans and followers couldn’t stop hailing her the moment she began to visit every tertiary institution in the state. For that reason, so many who had been complaining of a lack of entrepreneurial culture in our tertiary institutions, dumping grounds and irregularity of admissions with crumbling infrastructures, etc were happy that at least, steadily, they are winning the war against lack of a healthy and sustainable environment.

As if it couldn’t get any better, the Hon. Commissioner pulled another string just a few months later. This time it was a spectacular movement that melted the heart of so many, “war against sex for grades”. A few weeks later, she gave the students another big song to keep singing. This time, her boss, H.E AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq put in a nice sublime effort in supporting her to ensure that she has a full detailed and accurate knowledge of exceptional talents and plights of students in the state before smashing the hammer of change and hope into the heart of the hopeless youths. Sighting her arrival anywhere, any day anytime, you just want to meet her. Sometimes one might be forced to ask is she a human being like some other politicians who do arrive late in a political gathering or occasion? Isn’t she also busy like several other politicians married to African time?

This act pulled great emotion not only in the heart of observers and students but also in the hearts of the masses. Although the
The aroma of change in the tertiary institutions is still in progress, Nigeria, Africa and lovers of good political leaders all over the world have a lot to be happy with. Before our eyes, a star is forming and only getting bigger, better, and super. Let’s explain exactly why.

Popularity and winning the heart of the people are not new in politics, but a big thing about the honorable commissioner’s, work in the tertiary sector is her ability to make everyone around and far away better and happy. Her constant mindset of rising up to voice out for the people is really proving to be a lot to handle for ambassadors of Laziness. Going back to the problem of tertiary institutions in the state(learning amidst the lockdown), she put on her shoes, find a way around the Covid19 pandemic disease, and her immediate reaction was to summon the educational bodies and relevant persons, together with other willing supporters to limit the effect of the covid19 pandemic through sensitization of the students, aids, and support for E-learning, etc. If other politicians can emulate her leadership style, then the Nigerian government and politics will be a good thing to watch. Currently, it does not matter the problems we might have in the educational sector if more opportunity to serve is giving to her, with speed, confidence, and determination to continue to work hard and make Nigerians happy by revitalizing the educational sector, then heavens may not be her limit.

The point of Modibbo Kawu’s leadership that needs to be emphasized is her calmness and willingness to find a solution to all problems. Not many politicians take societal issues seriously or pay great attention to their roles and responsibilities but Hajia Saádatu Modibbo Kawu would search the heart of the people and wake up at night thinking of a way to make them happy by solving their problems and giving them hope that things will get better soon. Any serious politician willing to serve diligently will like her. She is intelligent, calm, humble, decent, and delightful to watch. She is constantly looking to work with other persons/bodies to make positive changes. Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu has successfully keyed into the educational vision of the people’s governor, the executive governor of the state of harmony, Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. You saw them bring whole new energy, modernization, and improvement into the state tertiary institutions at a time when Nigeria, Africa, and the world recognized that the economic growth and development of any nation is dependent on the quality of the educational sector.

Happy Birthday to a rare gem!
