A middle aged woman who was standing by the road side along the Nkwelle-Ezunaka 3-3 Road has lost her life when a lone motorist rammed into her killing her instantly.
Mr. Pascal A. Anigbo, the Sector Public Education officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), said at about 3.45 p.m. on July 22, 2020, a fatal lone road traffic crash (RTC) involving a Toyota Highlander with registration number LSD931BL was recorded opposite Green Gate Estate, along Nkwelle-Ezunaka-33 Road.
He said the driver of the Toyota Highlander lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed and rammed into the woman, who was standing by the road side, killing her instantly.
The body of the woman has been deposited at Apex Hospital Mortuary, Nkwelle-Ezunaka by the FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command, while the driver was arrested by the Police and taken to 3-3 Police Station.
The Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Mr. Andrew A. Kumapayi, while sending his condolences to the family of the dead woman strongly warned drivers against speeding, especially within built-up areas.
Drivers, Kumapayi said, should always drive defensively while also applying common sense speed limits.
