The Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's administration in kwara State is turning Ilorin, the capital city, other towns and the rural areas into one sprawling workshop, by engaging in the construction of good roads and urban renewal projects, therefore bringing about a revolutionary change in a once comatose economy.
Since assuming office on May 29,2019, the story of strategic infrastructural transformations in kwara State is an inspiring one that has lifted the ambiance of the capital city and faclitated development of the other parts of the state.
Not one to rest on his oars, Abdulrazaq was not just satisfied with providing portable water in communities that had hitherto given up, he is also opening up these communities with roads and electricity.
This is premised on the development logic that in looking at the challenge of fighting and defeating poverty, one has to look at the structure of the system. How can one deliver water to rural communities if there are no roads? How do one get doctors to locate a village that is not accessible by motor vehicles? So, identifying roads, water, electricity, health centers and education were critical areas of focus for Governor Abdulrazaq in his first 365 days.
Moving forward, ln 14 months, Abdulrazaq is further demonstrating that taking development to the rural areas is not a mission impossible.
The recently approved upgrade of 32-kilometre Ilesha-Baruba-Gwanara road to asphalt overlay by the Kwara State Government, KWSG, aptly demonstrates the commitment, sincerity of purpose and zeal with which Abdulrazaq is handling the issue of decayed infrastructure, especially roads, in the state. This road is one out of scores of Intercity roads which has received attention of the KWSG.
No doubt, when completed, the road would facilitate with ease the movement of goods and services, which will in turn increase revenues for the farmers and the government as well. It would also open up the long neglected communities of Gwanara to development from other partners and well meaning individuals.
The Government on Friday August seventh, also approved and awarded the construction of an expansive ICT hub at the cost of N1,350,390,734.10 to Omron Construction Engineering Company Limited for a duration of 52 weeks.
The innovation hub is expected to create a unique space where hi-tech entrepreneurs, industries, researchers and investors could be brought together to create jobs and boost the state economy. The hub holds significant potentials for small and medium scale enterprises and startups in the north central region. This state-of-the-art Visual Arts Centre — when completed will be the first of its kind in the north central region.
While aggressively addressing the deficits in basic infrastructure in the state, the Abdulrazaq's administration also ensures that other critical areas are attended to.
Consequently, Governor AbdulRazaq at the weekend, commenced distribution of special ambulances to three General Hospitals in the State.
This distibution of special ambulances is among the number of firsts in the healthcare delivery system by the Abdulrazaq's administration.
The ambulances, donated to the State by the BUA Foundation, are fully equipped with modern facilities to deliver mobile intensive care services from point of contact with patients to service delivery point
The ambulances which have been handed over to the CMDs of the three benefiting General Hospitals of Offa, Lafiagi and Ilesha-Baruba is in the bid by the State Government to further improve healthcare delivery services to the entire citizens and residents of the State
Kwara people definitely appreciate good governance when they are lucky to have one.
The Baruten Patriotic Agenda,BPA, through Mallam Adam Sidi Oumar and Almajiri Umar Farouq Idris , president and publicity secretary respectively have commended Governor Abdulrazaq for the recent approval for upgrade and completion of Ilesha-Baruba-Gwanara to asphalt overlay.
In a related development, the Elerin of Adanla-Irese, Oba Dr. David Oyerinola Adedunmoye has reportedly described Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as a leader committed to the well-being of the citizenry, who is doing a lot without making noise.
Elerin made this known when he received the State government’s implementation committee on National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) working on community engagement aspect of the project in his palace.
It would be recalled that Governor Abdulrazaq during his visit to the NALDA Executive Secretary/CEO, Prince Paul Ikonne, in Abuja in June said the target was to bring youths into agriculture and make them understand that agriculture is beneficial .
Abdulrazaq's magic in this second year, in hitting the ground running, perhaps is because there is no learning curve in a second term, unlike the first, where he is trying to have access to more information and address the rots in the system. This time, the speed of delivery is better in translating dreams to reality.
