FLASH: NDLEA Pledges Support to Kwara Govt


•With Promise to Curb Drug Abuse

The Kwara State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has promised to continue to champion a comprehensive drug free society.
 
Kwara State Commander  of the Agency, Ambrose Umar, said this would be achieved by transforming the agency into a proactive and intelligence-led one
during a brief chat with pressmen at the State commandment, Akerebiata, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Ambrose restated drugs consumption poses serious threat to national security, hence the collective need to rise up to the challenge because of the role of drugs in crimes.


According to him, the agency under his stewardship has recorded cases close to 108 including arrests, drug seizures and those brought in voluntarily in recent times, have all undergone and still undergoing counselling at the state division where facilities have been put in place.

He noted the NDLEA has carried out various enlightments programs and shall continue the campaigns in secondary schools, institutions, religious centres and motor parks in the subsequent future on the dangers of drug use and violence. 

 The commander emphasized drug addition is not a death sentence, stressing that subjecting addicts to counselling will slowly integrate them back to their various environment while assuring that with necessary support from  Non-governmental organization (NGO's), security agencies, communities and other meaningful bodies, it will continue to ensure a drug free society exist in Kwara.
