The Kwara State Drug Control Committee has appealed for a strong collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA), to stem the tide of drug abuse in the State.
The Chairperson of the Committee in the State, Pharmacist Barakat Olarawaju made the appeal today when she paid a visit to the agency's office in Ilorin.
Pharm. Olarewaju disclosed during the visit that the Committee had embarked on more sensitization programmes and health talks with a view to educating the citizenry on the dangers of drug abuse.
She explained that her Committee has done a lot in sensitizing different communities across the State in line with the health agenda of the present Administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who she described as being their backbone since inception.
In his remarks, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi commended the efforts of the committee at getting rid of drug abuse in the State, noting that such efforts had yielded positive results.
Mr. Adeyemi, who told the Chairperson that NOA had been partnering with the Committee in the past, assured that such partnership would continue until a zero tolerance for drug abuse is achieved in the State.
The NOA boss further emphasized the need to join hands to sensitize the citizens and pledged his unflinching support to ensure the overall success of the Committee.
