Sen. (Dr.) Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly has commiserated with the Tijaniyyah sect over the death of Shaykh Abdulrahman Yusuf Maiyaki who was until his death the grand Khalifah of the sect in Kwara State.
Oloriegbe in his condolence message described the death of the late scholar as a great loss not only to Tijaniyyah but the whole Muslim community in Kwara State and beyond.
The message reads as follows:
"One scholar from the past, in his work described the death of any knowledgeable whilst pious man as darkness to the religion (Islam). It is on that truism that I see the passage of our father, Shaykh Khalifah Abdulrahman Yusuf Maiyaki (RTA) whose demise was announced yesterday.
"Baba Maiyaki's death is such a great loss beyond the Tijaniyyah circus, it is a loss to the Ilorin Emirate and the whole Muslim community in Kwara State and beyond.
"I, therefore, commiserate with our father, Mai-Martaba Seriki Ilory, Alh. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the religious leaders, the followers of Sufi order, the Tijaniyyah, and the immediate family of the deceased. May Almighty grant the Late Khalifah eternal rest and reckon him amongst the pious men as he was in his lifetime."
