The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has urged the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to seek for new ways of optimising government revenue to ensure fairness and justice in the allocation of revenue to the three tiers of government.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, stated this today when the RMAFC team, which is on working visit to the State, visited in his office.
Mr Alabi assured the team of the state government’s commitment to facilitating an improved distribution system by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation Fiscal Commission.
Earlier, the team lead and RMAFC commissioner, Barr. Patrick Mgbebu explained that the RMAFC is required to review revenue indices every five years and is in the state to consult with stakeholders on ways of achieving an equitable distribution of allocation among state and local governments.
While presenting the indices from 2006 till date to the Deputy Governor, Barr. Mgbebu stated that the team had held two productive meetings with the ministry of finance and other stakeholders, adding that more discussions were underway.
Present at the courtesy visit were; Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Florence Oyeyemi Olasumbo, Hon. Commissioner for Education, Hajia Fatimah Ahmed, Ag. Accountant General, Dr. Kayode Waheed, and Permanent Secretary Bureau of Statistics Mr. Kolo P. N.
