Kwara Govt receives donation of Covid-19 Sample-Taking Safety Booth


Kwara State Government has received the donation of a COVID-19 test Sample taking safety Booth for use at the COVID-19/Infectious Diseases Center of the State located at the former Sobi Specialist Hospital.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq  while receiving the Safety Booth commended the donor for the display  of empathy for humanity and show of concern for the people of Kwara State.

Dr. Raji had earlier informed the visiting team of the strides and input of the State in combating the pandemic, under the amiable leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, that had earned the state a third place in terms of impact in the country. 

"This is another feather added to our cap in Kwara State, We want to congratulate Mr Oni for this achievement, for a youth to come up with this kind of innovation it is impressive and His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is very happy with what you are doing”, he said.

The Managing Director of Beacon Health Diagnostics and Donor of the Safety Booth for COVID-19 test Sample taking, Mr. Soga Oni, applauded the State Government for her commitment and proactiveness in the fight against the COVID -19.
 
Mr. Soga Oni said his organization is proud of the state for the enabling environment created and the support given by staff of the health ministry and the COVID-19 test centre in setting up and duly actualising of the safety booth project for the state.

The team lead,while demonstrating the use of the safety booth, explained  that the booth will enable the state to save cost in the use of Personal Protective equipments, PPEs, worth N15,000 for every test sample collected using the booth. 

Also speaking, the Chairman Medical Advisory Commitee of the COVID-19 Technical Committee, Dr. Femi Oladiji, appreciated the team and encouraged them to sustain the partnership by ensuring all the Local Governments in the state have suitable tools to assure patients and health care givers of their safety.

Also present at the occasion were the Permernent Secretary, Dr Abubakar Ayinla, the Director Public Health, Dr. Tosin Fakayode and a number of health workers at the COVID-19 test centres of the Hospital in Sobi.
