Post-UTME Scholarship: Mr. Nigeria commends 'Wodiong Senior Foundation

The leading Ilorin West Local Government Chairmanship Aspirant in the forthcoming Local Government Elections in Kwara State, Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli (Mr. Nigeria), has commended the leadership of WODIONG SENIE FOUNDATION, over her noble contributions to educational development in the country.

The Kwara born former TIC Chairman of the same Ilorin West Local Government and an old  student of Ansar-Ud-Deen High School, Falolu, Surulere, Lagos made the commendation during a Courtesy Visit on the  Executive Director of the Foundation, Joanna Ekaette Owodiong Idemeko, in Lagos, where he equally had a mind rubbing session with the Principal Founder, Obong Ide Owodiong-Idemeko, whom he described as the most visible Governorship hopeful in Akwa Ibom State.

Mrs. Owodiong while receiving Hon. Alli, who was also her Junior in Ansar-Ud-Deen High School, where she passed out as.Head Girl in 1986, stated that her NGO is charged with the  conscious efforts to reduce illiteracy and promote educational advancement in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.

Similarly, the visiting Mr. Nigeria described the community based non governmental organization, known as Wodiong Senie Foundation, as the eyes and ears of her people to have presented Post UTME Registration slips to beneficiaries of the Foundation's educational scholarship programme. ' Your Foundation's activities are similar to that of my Transformation Agenda Pet-Project when I served as caretaker Chairman of my local government for six months and which I hope to continue the Transformation Agenda from where it stopped in 2017.

It would be recalled that in January 2020, the Foundation paid for and registered interested candidates from Ibesikpo-Asutan LGA of Akwa Ibom State for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examinations. With the introduction of the free and Compulsory Education policy in Akwa Ibom State, the ratio of secondary school graduates has increased without a corresponding admission rate into the tertiary institutions. This was the premise upon which the Foundation took up the responsibility to strike a balance in order to address the ugly situation.

Just recently, the Foundation presented copies of post UTME screening registration to candidates who scored above 180 and had filled University of Uyo as their first choice of institution.
Presenting the Registration slip on behalf of the Foundation, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Joanna Ekaette Owodiong Idemeko charged the students and beneficiaries to be serious with their studies and display high level of moral decency. She further stressed the need for beneficiaries to shun cultism, examination malpractices and other social vices prevalent in our higher institutions.

The visiting Honourable thanked the Foundation for bringing hope to the hopeless and for being a voice to the voiceless. He added that the Foundation has served as a propelling force towards the fulfillment of the destiny of the people of Ibesikpo-Asutan LGA. He promised to help in extending the gestures to other Akwa Ibom citizens in Kwara State.

The Courtesy Visit was facilitated by Mr. Rafiu Williams, the National President of Ansar-Ud-Deen High School, Falolu, who is interested in seeing his fellow Alumnus grow from stregnth to strength during his tenure and beyond.
