The Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq today showered encomium and commendation on the people of Offa in Offa Local Government of Kwara State.
The Governor's position on the impactful role of the Offa community was presented today at the General Hospital in Offa by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq who was a Special Guest at the Foundation laying ceremony of the Multimillion Naira Ultramodern accident and emergency unit for the hospital by the Offa Metropolitan Club.
Furthermore, the Commissioner listed an array of gaps and documented interventions like building of eye centre, staff quarters renovation and annual free medical and surgical outreach, that has been undertaken by groups and individuals from within the Offa community at the General Hospital in the past.
He capped it by saying 'it is expedient to say a big thank you for identifying a gap and committing yourself to fixing the gap rather than embarking on a fruitless criticism that will further worsen the situation'.
Dr. Raji said, the Offa Metropolitan Club has taken 'a right step in a right direction and it will indeed go a long way in saving lives and improving health care outcomes especially for patients who requires emergency care in the hospital'.
The foundation stone for the Multimillion Naira Ultramodern Accident and Emergency unit was laid by the Oloffa of Offa, His Royal Highness, Oba Mufutau Esuwoye, who had earlier registered his appreciation to the Governor of Kwara State and the Offa Metropolitan Club who have deemed it fit to provide succour to the people through the highly commendable project for the benefit of the people of Offa and all Kwarans accordingly.
Oba Mufutau said the community will ever be grateful to the club and their footprint shall never be erased in the Community.
The Offa Metropolitan Club, represented by the President of the Club, Dr. Mrs. Sarah Alade, who is also a Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Economic matters, appreciated the State Governor for approving the club's proposals to collaborate with government through the construction of the Accident and Emergency unit at the General Hospital in Offa.
The proposed Facility, according to Architect Taofiq Popoola, will comprise, an emergency resuscitation area, a Triage bay, holding Area , CT/X-ray room, Consulting room, with planned internal fixtures to support accessibility and qualitative care as could be obtainable in the developed world.
Also present at the occasion were the Honorable Yusuf of the Kwara State House of Assembly, the Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Health, the Director General, Hospital Management Board, Directors from the State Ministry of health and representative of the Offa Metropolitan Club in compliance with the protocols set to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
