Let Supreme Court decide fate of Agboola, Kwara APC tells PDP

Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the opposition PDP and its candidate in the 2019 House of Assembly election AbdulRaheem Agboola to wait for the Supreme Court to decide the appeal against an earlier judgment that pronounced him winner of the Ilorin South Constituency seat.

 

“We are aware of various clandestine attempts and underhand tactics by the PDP to disturb the peace of the state on account of non-swearing in of its candidate. While the Appeal Court has indeed found in favour of the PDP, our party, as a law abiding entity, has taken its case to the highest court in the land to further adjudicate on the pre-election matter,” Kwara APC spokesman Alhaji Tajudeen Folaranmi Aro said in a statement on Saturday.

 

“Until the Supreme Court has given its verdict on the pre-election matters we have placed before it, nobody can accuse our party or the House of Assembly, of any illegality or disobedience of court judgment since the judicial process cannot be said to have been exhausted. In fact, what the PDP and its candidates are doing in pursuit of their selfish agenda bothers on criminality. 

 

“Similarly, our party is aware of various attempts to disturb the peace of the state through deployment of extrajudicial measures and machineries such as violence. This will be resisted and perpetrators, no matter how highly placed, would have the full weight of the law visited on them. 

 

“We call on the security agencies to place the PDP candidate and his backers on their watchlist as nobody should be allowed to inflict violence on the people of the state for whatever political interest. The PDP has just been in opposition for less than two years; yet it is exhibiting an annoying lack of decorum, decency and maturity to handle issues in manners that conform to the law of the land.”
