•Says, It’s a reward for consistency
Caucus for Progressive Change, All Progressives Congress (APC), Kwara State chapter has felicitated with the newly appointed Caretaker Chairman of the party in the State, Honourable Abdullahi Samari Abubakar.
The caucus, in a statement in Ilorin by its acting Secretary, Mallam Gani Zakaryah described the appointment as a reward for consistency.
The appointment was said to have come at the right time when a true democrat was in a dire need.
“The appointment of our chairman and torch bearer that confronted the tiger in the trying days of APC in Kwara State as our State party chairman is a reward for his labour and sacrifice made long time ago.
“It was suicidal in Kwara APC when Alhaji Abdullahi Samari offered himself a sacrifice in 2018 within Kwara APC to shed light in the dark tunnel. He led the micro-unit that unsettled former senate president and his lackeys, including the then governor.
“Himself and his team established networks across various quarters in Kwara and Nigeria. He was a link with former member house representatives, Hon. Olayemi Olabanji and others. He was part of several meetings in the South-West where the independence of Kwara APC was a subject.
“He suffered victimization, harassment and indiscrimination while the struggle lasted. He was threatened to be declared persona non grata in his native community by constituted authority then. The indiscrimination continued within the party under the ousted chairman when he gave all principal officers of the party campaign vehicles but isolated Mallam Samari”, the statement recalled.
Zakaryah thanked Allah that the day for him to reap his labour comes to him while on Mother Earth, saying, “though sorrow last for the night, surely joy comes in the morning”.
The caucus believed that, the former commissioner will bring his wealth of experience to bear as a time-tested administrator and political leader.
“You are known to be level-headed and calm; these attributes are what can cement our seriously polarized party that you inherited. Kindly bring all members together irrespective of their leanings and run an open door policy.
“Your loyalty to the party and governor is not negotiable. The administration of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq must be given support to deliver all her electoral promises amidst the plethora of projects executed.
We are equally appealing to all members of APC to be part of the forthcoming registration/revalidation of membership identification.”
