The Nigeria Federal Capital Territory yesterday, 20th of April was in agog as the Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe launched a book and a humanitarian foundation.
The two-in-one event was held at International Conference Center, Abuja, to commemorate the birthday of the lawmaker who clocked sixty on the 12th of November last year.
The book, which chronicled the birth, growth as well as adulthood of the Senator was written by seasoned writers and journalists of notes; Olakunle Adewumi and Akinyemi Adeolu.
The 265 pages book was spontaneously reviewed by a renowned Labour leader and consummate politician, Comrade Issa Aremu who gave an overview and complete review of the contents of the book thereby making it more appealing to the prospective readers in attendance.
The Nigerian Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, who doubles as the chairman of the occasion lauded the achievements recorded within the space of two years in the National Assembly by the Distinguished Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe as the Chairman of Senate Committee on Health and member of other various committees in the Red Chamber. He described the Senator as "A visionary and purposeful people's servant, whose humble background influenced his leadership skills and horned his expertise amongst the senators of the federation."
Speaking in the same vein, the Honourable Speaker House of Representative, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila described Oloriegbe as a "Giant-killer and a fine gentleman of resounding intellect." He extolled his leadership prowess and their blossoming relationship.
The father of the occasion, the inimitable Chief of staff to the President of the Federation, Professor Ibraheem Agboola Gambari in his opening remarks congratulated the celebrant whilst urging the youth to imbibe the startling CV of the senator to enable them have an edge ahead of their contemporaries.
Oloriegbe in his response expressed that he was overwhelmed with the caliber of people who came from various destinations to honor him noting that it has become a challenge for him to intensify efforts in service to humanity. He announced that all the proceeds from the book sale would be channeled into Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe Foundation which was also launched at the event with the aims of touching the lives of the needy and the less privileged. "The foundation will focus on education, health, entrepreneurship and youth development". He said.
The occasion which was largely attended by the movers and shakers of the society has in attendance; the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi, Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who was the Chief Host, Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Ministers and Heads of various government MDA's Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Senator Seriake Dickson, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, Senator Sadiq Umar, Senator Lola Ashiru and numerous other Senators.
Also in attendance was the Emir of Ilorin, Alh. (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Tshonga, Dr. Haliru Yahaya, Business mogul, Hajia Muhinat Bola Shagayah, the party chieftains from Kwara State which includes, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, Mallam Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Kayode Alabi, Hon. Moshood Mustapha, Hon. Raphael Adetiba, Hon. Benjamin Issa amongst others
