FEATURED: Untold Story Of Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association By Aiyelabegan B Rasaq

Community Development was described by Hamilton in 1992 as a process to engage in politics, leadership, power attainment, group dynamics, learning, and social change; thus, it is multidisciplinary and draws from political science, sociology, social psychology, social work, and adult education.

However, the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development IEYDA is like a sector from the above assertion of Hamilton.

The fast-growing socio-cultural group in Kwara State and Nigeria at large had been nurturing youths across five local government areas of the state with over sixty wards that formed Emirate.

Since the inception, the group was saddled with the responsibility of empowering teeming youths, alleviating both married men and women, and widows, creating job opportunities, and promoting peace and unity among the sons and daughters of the region.

Some group and associations have been in existence and some birthed as a result of IEYDA's contribution to the growth of the state economy and communities across its territory with unquantifiable achievements, but today, all of them are left with no option than to join the moving train of IEYDA and face the challenge at once.

The socio-cultural group has feather across sixty-nine wards of Asa, Moro, Ilorin West, East and South and was coming to being in 2014.

Ever since the establishment of the nonpartisan and nongovernmental association, IEYDA has been engaging in community development either with collaboration or single-handedly such as poverty alleviation program, skill acquisition, empowering youths, and forestalling security challenges.

It would be recalled that IEYDA provided emergency food items in response to the yearning of vulnerable people within the Emirate, cash donation for small-scale business owners.

In recognition of the usual provision of succumbing to the less privileged, the Kwara State Government named IEYDA among the committee of Palliative and was also carried out palliative of the emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari.

As part of its little contribution, the group also reconciled the rift between the blue-eyed Risqot and her husband abdulwsiu and empowered Risqot's husband during the group 6th empowerment program held to mark the 25th years of Emir of Ilorin enthronement.

The Group has facilitated empowerment for hundreds of graduates who are yet to get employment. And to set the record straight, it has empowered over ten thousand indigenes as well as residents of Ilorin Emirate.

The usual visitation of the group to hospitals, Cementary, market places to have first-hand information was directed to the correctional center to sympathized and show the heart of love to the inmates.

As we all know that the core value of the group remains the provision of assistance and promotion of our heritage and to barricade our versatile lands and our length of appreciation is immeasurable to the sons and daughters of the Emirate for their financial support and assistant.
