Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Friday attended the Islamic burial rites of the Emir of Lafiagi Alhaji Saadu Kawu Haliru (OFR).
The Governor led the state government delegation that included Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu; members of the Assembly; Secretary to the State Government Prof Mamman Saba Jubril; Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development Architect Saifudeen Muhammed; and the All Progressive Congress caretaker committee chairman Abdullahi Samari.
The monarch died on Thursday.
The burial was attended by top traditional rulers, including Etsu Patigi Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II; Emir of Kaiama Alhaji Muazu Omar; Etsu Tsaragi Alhaji Aliyu Nda Kpoto; Emir of Shonga Dr. Haliru Yahaya; Olupako of Share Oba Haruna Sulaiman Olawale; representative of the Emir of Ilorin and Balogun Gambari Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad; and the Imam Gambari Alhaji Sulaiman AbdulAzeez.
The Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar was also at the burial.
Others were top government officials and APC elders in the state.
The janaazah was led by the Chief Imam of Lafiagi Alhaji Muhammad Jibril Abubakar.
One of the longest reining monarchs in the country, the late Alhaji Sa'adu Kawu Haliru, who died at the age of 86, ascended the throne in 1975.
