The Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has congratulated the newly elected chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara Council, Ahmed 'Lanre Abdullateef on his victory in Saturday's election.
ASKOMP, the umbrella body for professional and trained Online Media practitioners in a statement issued on Sunday by its Chairman and Publisher of Informant247, Salihu Shola Taofeek described the just concluded election as historic and turning pointing in Kwara NUJ.
The Association observed that the leading chairmanship aspirants have raised the bar by running issues-based campaign to the admiration of their members and other well meaning kwarans.
ASKOMP while wishing the new leadership a successful tenure seeks for improved collaboration towards upholding ethics of journalism and sanitizing the digital media space.
''We are partners in progress and NUJ members should disabuse their mind about competence and professionalism of Online Media Practitioners, especially ASKOMP members with requisite qualification, experience and skills that are practicing journalism with strict adherence to ethics of the profession.'' The statement notes.
