MSMEs: Lagos Gov, Sanwo-Olu Donates Modern Working Tools To Thousands Of Artisans

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Tuesday presented modern working tools to 2020 artisans.

The empowerment for the artisans is one of Sanwo-Olu's administration programmes towards growing Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) and boost the state economy.

Our correspondent reports that 76-year-old concrete and block craftsman from Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Pa Fawole Johnson Alade made the list of graduands churned out by the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA) in its up-skill programme for tradesmen and artisans in the informal sector.

The Governor in his address said: ''Today, our administration empowered 2000 artisans with modern working tools to start their trade with the biggest revelation being 76 years old Pa Fawole Johnson Alade who showed us that there is no age too old to learn.

"Our administration places a premium on participatory governance, as we strongly believe Government and the private sector must work together to transform the State’s economy.

"As a forward-looking Government, we cannot afford to ignore the rapid pace of change in the 21st century. Lagos’ artisans cannot afford to be left behind. It is our abiding commitment to ensure our MSMEs grow and flourish.

"For the 2000 tradesmen and artisans who are graduating today, let me remind you that the strategic position of Lagos offers you limitless opportunities to achieve your dreams, as the State contributes a quarter of the national GDP, and is by extension the fifth largest economy in Africa."
