The Kwara State Government under the administration of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the National Malaria Elimination Programme have been commended for their commitment to quality health care services to the people of the State.
The Director of Global Fund, Dr. Issa Kawu made the commendation at the debriefing meeting held at the Ministry of Health on the effective and successful implementation of the first, second, third and fourth cycles Seasonal Malaria Chemo-Preventive (SMC).
Dr. Kawu commended the State Government for making funds available for the exercise and providing effective manpower for the service.
The National Coordinator of SMC, Dr. Emmanuel Shekarau applauded the leadership of the State Ministry of Health for its commitment and support throughout the implementation of the programme.
He also commended the State Malaria Elimination Programme team for taking the lead and responding swiftly to issues identified during the oversight, maintained resilience.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq appreciated officers from the Global Fund and National Malaria Elimination Programme for their selfless services to humanity, which led to the success story of the first round of the programme in 2021 while the second round is expected to come up next year.
Dr. Razaq disclosed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq places much concern on the health of Kwarans, noting that the positive improvement is not only peculiar to the Malaria unit alone but all health care services in the State.
While commending the Staff of the Ministry of Health and all ad-hoc staff that sacrificed their time for the success of the programme, the Commissioner assured the Management of Global Fund of the State Government's readiness to implement the 2022 round.
He also promised to look into the recommendations as highlighted for optimum results.
