The ancient City of Ilorin was agog yesterday for the official turbaning of APC Chieftain and stalwart Mal Saliu Mustapha the Founder of The Saliu Mustapha Foundation as the New Turaki Of Ilorin Emirate.
Among many bigwigs who graced the beautiful events is the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Investments.
Mrs Uwais also paid a visit to the office of the Kwara State Social Investment Programmes.
Uwais was the pioneer anchor of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) of the Federal Government before the establishment of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management And Social Development. She led the commencement of Trader Money, N-Power, School feeding and other programmes aimed at investing in the social wellbeing of Nigerians.
Received by Muhammed Brimah, the GM of the Kwara State Social Investment Programmes, who took her for a walk-through of the office, she was made to see the Command Centre of KWASSIP, where Brimah explained the step by step process of the activities involved in the execution of the various programmes.
While commending the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the giant strides achieved with the Kwara State Social Investment Programmes, she also stated that she was not surprised of the achievements, with the program placed in the hands of Muhammed Brimah who played a key role in the success of the programmes at the Federal level.
Addressing the Press, Uwaisu said that social investment in the life of citizenry is not being seen as important by many governments, in this part of the world.
Governments prefer to opt for physical or infrastructural projects, because social investment being a safety net and a direct giveback to the people, does not necessarily serve for the optics required for politics. And as such Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq should be commended for such a God rewarding investment.
Speaking of women inclusion in politics, she stated that by the nature of women, they should be supported to take up offices, as the default political clime does not present a level playing ground, thereby commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for giving women a fair share and opportunity to serve in his administration.
