2023 Election: Why I Prefer Tinubu To Osinbajo

At this time of extreme economic hardship, secession, and continuous insecurity in every nook and cranny of our country. Nigerians are faced with the dilemma of who to vote for in the upcoming general election. Every political party is also being extra careful in the choice of who will be the flag bearer of their party in the election, as the reputation of the candidate each political party presents will go a long way to determine their fates in the election. Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has scheduled June 3, 2022, as the deadline for primaries.

We have had quite a several political figures from the two popular political parties ( APC and PDP) who had declared their interests to paddle the boat of affairs of our country in the forthcoming general election.  But in this piece of writing, my interest will be in the two APC public figures who I believe of them will end up emerging as the flag bearer of APC. The APC's zoning system favored Southwest to produce the next flag bearer of the party. Ever since, the incumbent Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has declared his interest in also contesting for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there have been a lot of debates amongst political analysts, scholars, and APC's members on who will best suit the interest of Nigerians and the Party between him and his political godfather, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. 

A patriotic Nigerian is expected to put the interest of the country first not his individual political affiliation or selfish interest? This made me ask the question that " Who do Nigerians need in 2023 and why? "

I was shocked, I couldn't imagine that the Incumbent Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo would declare to run for the office of the Presidency after all these hardships. I hardly believed it, not until I watched his declaration speech which sounded like a prepared poetry stage performance. In 2015, millions are Nigerians had put their hope in the Buhari/Osinbajo administration to raise the sinking glory of our country but end up disappointed. Thousands were suffering before they assumed office, but it's now millions. 

The worse part of Prof. OSINBAJO's speech was when he made it known that he will continue from where their administration stopped. unfortunately, all that he could be proud of in his speech is traveling to all the 774 local governments that made up Nigeria, Sharing of trader money and nothing else. He talked of creating unity amongst Nigerians by making sure that all the tribes see themselves as one.

While I share no interest with those calling Prof. Osinbajo betrayal, for declaring to contest for the office of the President because it is the lifetime ambition of his political godfather,Bola Tinubu. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has the right to declare so far he is a Nigerian. However,  My main concern is that the Vice President didn't fit the office of the President judging by his current records. I Prefer Tinubu to Osinbajo judging by his records as Lagos State's former Governor, his political prowess, and his Leadership skills.

Lagos State achieved enormous economic growth when he served as the governor of the state. He is one of the few candidates who I haven't heard to have ever been charged with corruption. 2023 is the perfect year to allow him to serve as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. To me, his age is not and shouldn't be a barrier. As he said and I quote " those who think they will see me run around the stadium, I didn't apply for the Job of wrestling" Truly if Tinubu becomes the President, he is not expected to be wrestling in Aso Rock, it's his ability to govern that matters.

 

 Likewise, to create unity amongst the divided Nigerians, we need a Yoruba president come 2023, I believe with that, the issue of fight for secession will soon become a tale of the past. 

I live in the north, Sokoto State precisely. And I have spoken with a lot of people, it's interesting to know that most of these people also wish and hope that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be the president of Nigeria come next year.
