As the 2023 general election is fast approaching, though campaign hasn't started yet but political scheming is heavily going underground from all angles by all contestants to ensure that they emerge victorious comes the election day.
One of such preparations is the engagement of all relevants body by the contestants through meetings, parley etc in order to create avenue to enable them share highlights regarding their blue prints.
For that, one of the strong relevants stakeholders in Kwara State media, the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) hosted the Kwara Central Senatorial Candidate under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party, Mal. Saliu Mustapha to a media parley. The media parley was indeed an avenue to interacts, ask questions and as well have insights on what his blue prints for his constituency are.
Mal Saliu Mustapha who doubles as Turaki of Ilorin and the founder of the Saliu Mustapha Foundation has part of his blue prints promised to run all inclusive representation that will benefit the youth, women, widows and other strata of the society, when elected.
He highlighted this on Monday during a Media Parley with the ASKOMP members held at his Ilorin residence.
While commending the good representation of the current Kwara Central Senator, Yahaya Oloriegbe, the Ilorin East born politician said he is aspiring to represent people of Kwara Central Senatorial district in order to add value and give back to the society, and reassures his constituents of the ability to do more better & step up quality representation, when elected.
In His words: "I am thinking of how best to serve my people and help the downtrodden in the society. Islamic injunction encourage us to give back to the needy and put smile on people's faces. I believe political office would give me opportunity to impact more lives positively. It will help me leverage on my network to better the lots of my constituents.
"I will be doing things differently to the benefit of ALL across the four local government areas in Kwara Central Senatorial district. I will use legislation to address challenges facing our people and Nigeria as a whole."
Saliu Mustapha described the APC Senatorial Primary election for Kwara Central as free, fair and credible; adding his emergence as candidate is attracting many political gladiators to APC.
According to him, In fairness to Senator Oloriegbe, he did well among the Senators across the country but I would be doing things differently in order to improve well being of the citizenry. I won't promise what we cannot do. I will use my network, experience, knowledge and understanding of national politics to bring goodies to Kwara Central in terms of projects facilitation and sponsorship of Impactful bills.
He appreciated the support of Media including Online Media Practitioners for their support and solicit for better partnership ahead of electioneering campaigns.
Speaking further on bill sponsorship, Saliu Mustapha said he will look at how government can proper harness opportunity in mining, especially in Kwara State. He said mining is the fastest way of bringing development to the society, stating that it will create jobs, lead to infrastructural development, grow small businesses and building of new settlements.
Turaki of Ilorin who served as Deputy National Chairman (North) of defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his giant strides in infrastructural development amidst insecurity and economic challenges.
Earlier, ASKOMP Chairman, Salihu Shola Taofeek said the association is a professional organization without political affiliation, noting that its members usually adhere to professional ethics of journalism.
