The Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has declared that Mallam Saliu Mustapha is the most qualified candidate to represent Kwara central senatorial district in the 10th senate.
This comes barely 24 hours after former Senate President Bukola Saraki had said, at a gathering of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ilorin, that Bolaji Abdullahi was the most qualified of all the senatorial candidates on the basis of education background.
But speaking while receiving the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate who on thursday visited the palace to receive royal blessings ahead of the commencement of his campaign, the Emir made it clear that Mustapha was better qualified.
The emir said: “you are a true blue blood who has contributed to the development of the state and we will certainly give you our mandate to represent us.
“You are over qualified, we know your antecedents and we need a leader who will bring big impact to our society. We know your competence and we are sure the strategies you adopted in building your business empire will be replicated in building our society and the emirate as a whole”.
On his part, Mustapha who is also the Turaki of Ilorin thanked the Emir for the endorsement while pledging to do more than he had done to support the emirate if elected Senator.
“I will like to thank you for the support you’ve giving to me and emirate and I really appreciate the gesture.
“The people of Ilorin have showed me overwhelming love and support as it took me over two hours to get here from the airport and I feel indebted to deliver to my people if giving the mandate”,he said.
Mustapha also emphasized on his campaign objective of reducing poverty in the senatorial district, strategic collaboration with relevant stakeholders, human capital development and responsible representation during the palace visit.
