The 2023 campaign council for the incumbent House of Representative member, representing Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero/ Ekiti federal constituency, Hon. OLAWUYI RAHEEM TUNJI Ajuloopin has reaffirmed that he remains the authentic candidate of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) party for the 2023 general election.
According to a statement seen by 9japarrot Media and signed by Rev Bunmi Olusona the Director General
for Ajuloopin Campaign Council 2023, the council urges the general public to shun fake News and misleading information making rounds.
The statement reads;
Our attention has been drawn to rumors making the round that the candidate of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero/ Ekiti Federal Constituency in the 2023 General Elections, Rep. Raheem Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin is no longer the party candidate.
The Ajuloopin Campaign Council hereby wishes to clear the air on the matter and state that Rep Olawuyi remains the authentic candidate for Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun, and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency seats.
It may be recalled that after the party primary for federal consistency which Rep Olawuyi emerged winner, one of the aspirants in the primary election in person of Engr Cornelius Segun Adebayo went to court to challenge the Party and the Candidate on the outcome of the primary, which is his fundamental right to do.
It may also be recalled that the said case before the Federal High Court, Ilorin was ruled in favor of Mr. Adebayo. Consequent to this, Rep Raheem Tunji Olawuyi filed an Appeal against the judgment at the Federal Court of Appeal, Ilorin Division.
All submissions have been made by both parties and a date for Ruling is expected to be communicated to both parties soon.
For the sake of clarity, from the point of law, Rep Raheem Tunji Olawuyi remains the candidate of the APC for the Ekiti/Isin/ Irepodun/ Oke Ero/ Federal Constituency pending the final determination of the Court of Law. His mandate is still intact at INEC and the National Secretariat of our party.
The Campaign Council of Rep Olawuyi which was inaugurated by the State party leadership remains intact, and active and has been working towards the victory of our party for the forthcoming general elections.
It is important to stress here that *a Political Party can not have two candidates for a particular office at the same time.* Actions can not be taken contrary to the Nigerian Electoral Act and the APC Constitution. It is worrisome for anyone or a group to assume they know the outcome of the legal processes.
We hereby call on loyal and committed members of our party to be guided by the relevant laws that guide elections in the country and work for peace and integration of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
