Waziri Yakubu Gobir, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) Governorship Candidate in Kwara State, has taken his state-wide campaign to Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The tour, which was in the company of critical stakeholders of YPP and other candidates under the party, took place from Wednesday, December 14th to Friday 16th.
Gobir, during the campaign tour to Ifelodun local government, visited five communities; Igbaja, Share, Oke-Ode, Oro-Ago and BabaNla, to interact with traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, artisans, market men/women and other stakeholders.
He also observed the Infrastructural deficit within the local government and connecting to other parts of the state. He noted that the infrastructural problems in the LGA and other parts of Kwara state is due to visionless leadership.
Traditional rulers visted during the tour include the Elese of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola Awini Arepo III; Oloro of Oro-Ago, Oba Johnson Olarewaju Dada; Oba of BabaNla, HRM Oba Yusufu Aliu; Olupako of Share, Oba Haruna Olawale Suleiman and the Regent of Oke-Ode, Alhaji Kareem Owolabi.
While sharing his plans to salvage the problems observed if elected come 2023, Gobir stressed that it’s only an overhaul of the Infrastructures that can ensure a positive change in Ifelodun. “There are so many old hands that must leave for new ideas to emerge for the betterment of the state." He added.
Other campaign team members present during the tour include Gobir’s running mate, Hon. Bolujoko George, YPP House of Representatives Candidate for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Consistency, Hon. Adepoju Oluwafemi Ayodeji (Pillar), Kwara YPP Chairman, Chief Dele Ogunbayo, Party Chairman in Ifelodun, Hon. Niyi Omodara and all the state executive members.
Reacting to the warm welcome received during the tours, Waziri Gobir thanked the communities for their teeming supports and endorsement.
While addressing Gobir, Oba Yusufu Aliu (Arojo Joye 2 of Baba Nla) praised the YPP governorship candidate for his generosity to Kwarans through his Gobir Foundation. He also prayed for Gobir's success in the 2023 governorship election.
Speaking about Gobir’s intent to run for political office, the YPP Chairman, Chief Dele Ogunbayo mentioned that due to the longstanding records of helping the poor without holding political office, his successful professional experience and exposure, he was implored to run and turn the affairs of the state around for good. “YPP is here as a succour through Waziri." The chairman said.
The supporters were then charged to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card to enable them vote the right candidates. They were also urged to resist any vote buying attempt during the elections to secure their future and that of their children.
