Lionel Messi has achieved a new milestone.
This comes after photos he posted following his country's win over France to clinch the World Cup on Sunday became the most-liked post on Instagram with 56.4 million likes.
Messi’s likes surpassed that from a post of Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo – a Louis Vuitton ad featuring the two football stars – which accumulated 41.9 million likes.
The post from the World Cup has become the most-liked in the history of Instagram, after surpassing a previous record posted by a picture of an egg.
One Chris Godfrey had uploaded a photo of an egg in January 2019, and the photo ended up getting 56.1 million likes, with the aim of surpassing the then-most liked Instagram post, a picture of Kylie Jenner’s daughter which had 18.6 million likes.
In the Nigerian scene, global music star David Adeleke popularly known as Davido also hit another milestone in his career on Instagram.
Davido broke the record on social media as his pictures with his lover Chioma at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on Monday, became the most-liked picture on Instagram in Nigeria, with over 1.7million likes.
Davido performed at the closing ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Sunday, and prior to his performance the award-winning star shared pictures on Instagram with Chioma, who was seen dressing her man ahead of his performance.
