Mammoth Crowd As Gobir's Campaign Train Hits Baruten LG

It was pomp, on Thursday, as a crowd who are indigenes of Baruten, in Bakura received the campaign train of the Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Kwara State, Waziri Yakubu Gobir.

Gobir, alongside his running mate, Hon. Bolujoko George, concluded the town hall meeting with stakeholders and party trustees in Baruten Local Government as part of their statewide tours to seek support for his emergence as the next Governor of Kwara.

The Madawaki of Ilorin Emirate who paid homage to the palace of the Emir of Ilesa-Baruba, HRH Prof. Abubakar Ibrahim Halidu, Derekureku (IV), urged the people to consider the future of their unborn generations by voting YPP in the coming election.

Popularly known as Aláànú Mẹ̀kúnnù, Gobir lamented over the bad state of the road and the lack of presence of the government in Kwara North.

According to him: “We are very sorry for coming late because we planned to be here earlier but the state of the road robbed us of our precious time. This is not the first time I am visiting Ilesa-Baruba, I was here in 2018 and it is so surprising that the condition of the road is still the same as when we visited 5 years ago”

“My message for this region is straightforward: Kwara North was one of the most productive regions in the state. Commerce, Agriculture, and human capacity, but unfortunately due to lacklustre leadership, this region has suffered for decades.

“We need your prayers for God to give our leaders who will have empathy for the masses; leaders that will make Kwara what we all be proud of, and leaders that will care for the youths and our women,” he added.

In response, the Emir of Ilesa-Baruba eulogised the YPP Gubernatorial Candidate for his unrelenting support for the masses. He also prayed for his success in the upcoming governorship election in the state.

Aláànú Mẹ̀kúnnù also visited the Chief Imam Ilesa-Baruba, Sheikh Alhaji Musa Abdullahi to seek prayer.

Later in the day, he took his campaign train to the Bukalu community, where he paid homage to the village head, Alhaji Muhammed Bashira Sonno II, and met with party faithfuls and supporters.

He urged his supporters to come out en masse to collect their permanent voter cards (PVCs). He also appreciated the YPP executive and members for upholding the flag of the party in Baruteen Local Council.

Waziri's entourage includes; YPP State Chairman, Chief Dele Ogunbayo, YPP Baruteen Local Government Chairman, Musa Abdulkareem Shehu Shagari, and members of the YPP State executives.
