The Kwara State Government has approved a temporary measure to help workers cope with the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government. The government has reduced workdays from five days to three days a week for all state-employed workers.
The State Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, announced the decision on Monday. She said the measure was taken to help workers save money on transportation and other expenses.
Mrs. Oluwole also warned workers not to abuse the government's magnanimity. She said the government would monitor compliance with the new work schedule.
The decision by the Kwara State Government is a welcome relief for workers who have been struggling to cope with the high cost of living. The reduction in workdays will give workers more time to rest and relax, and it will also help them save money.
